Ruby Jam is a monthly technical meetup that provides a platform for the Ruby community to connect, learn, and grow.

For December’s Ruby Jam, we’re thrilled to virtually host:
First Taiwanese Ruby Committer and 2025 Ruby Prize winner — Stan Lo 🎉
No CS degree, no study abroad.
Yet over the past decade, Stan has continuously contributed to the Ruby ecosystem –
from debugger, IRB, and Language Server to the JIT compiler.
His open-source journey led him to an international career, step by step becoming a core maintainer and receiving the Ruby Prize.
In this AMA, Stan will share with the Ruby Taiwan community:
• How open source shaped his career and perspective
• Getting started: how to choose issues, and what to do when you’re stuck
• Beyond writing code: how to get your contributions noticed
• Being a Taiwanese developer in a global community: cross-cultural and cross-timezone collaboration
• What keeps him going: the motivations beyond career
• And… is this path right for you?
